The Beginning

Terry’s Electric was founded in 1979 at Terry and Jeanne’s home on Trophy Lane in Poinciana, Florida. The company quickly grew by training and hiring 15–20 employees, working on residential homes for Avatar, small warehouses, offices, and mobile homes in the Kissimmee and Poinciana area. The early fleet included a mix of off-white vehicles—mostly used trucks and vans from the 1960s. Founding employees like Tim, Mark, and Stan Bunch helped establish the company’s foundation for the future.

During this period, Terry’s Electric’s commercial division expanded rapidly, completing projects for major hotel brands like Days Inn, Best Western, and Motel 6, as well as themed attractions such as Old Town and Medieval Times. The company also developed its high-voltage and substation capabilities, performing utility work around Kissimmee and extending into other states including Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Georgia.

Expansion into Kissimmee

In 1982, Terry’s Electric moved into its first Kissimmee office, an old gas station on Orange Blossom Trail, allowing for expanded operations and a larger fleet. The company grew to 30–40 employees, focusing on projects along Highway 192 such as small motels, timeshares, and commercial work. By 1985, a larger office space was secured on Vine Street next to McDonald’s, with an additional warehouse and fleet yard on Bass Road. This move marked a shift toward larger hotel and industrial projects.
